Manicured hands, freshly painted nails, great creams. What feeling pampered? Who would not? Everyone likes to be groomed! And what about your four legged companion? Yes, he also needs to be groomed (that is also important for his health!).But remember don’t force him, start with a little time initially and once he gets into habit you can slowly increase the time dedicated to his grooming.

1.Brushing

Regular brushing is a must to ensure that your dog’s hair is tangle free.It also helps in removing dirt and hence keeps the skin clean. The routine you need to adopt depends on the length of your dog’s hair.

2.Bathing

In general your dog needs bathing in every 3 months.Though ,if she stays outside a lot especially during summertime, she may need a bath more frequently. Remember you should use only mild shampoos.

3.Cut his/her nails

Before reaching out to cut your pets nail, make sure that he is in habit of allowing you to touch his feet. To get him into the habit of letting you touch his toe nails, you can follow a simple routine.Just take him in your lap, rub your hand on his leg (move it in up and down direction) and pres his toes (individually). If you carry on with the exercise, within few days he will get habitual and then you can have it in routine.

4.Special requirements of special breeds

If you have a dog with wrinkles or loose skin, you will have to pay special attention. Take a damp cloth and clean the area that is between the folds. Also make it a point to dry the area between the folds properly.Similarly,if he has long or droopy ears, they will demand your weekly attention.

If you want to remove his ear’s wax, do it carefully using a damp cotton ball (you can use mineral oil or water to moisturize it).
The thing is that keeping your pet groomed is in fact a simple task. All it asks for is a little dedication on your part.
